FAR ROCKAWAY

Still the "rockaways" but this time on the North side. A very different, intriguing neighborhood. Feeling very disconnected with NYC. I really want to get back there later in the day.

WATERS AND LINES

First one shot from the GWB coming back from locations scouting for a future job, the second from yesterday in Rockaway. Not sure they work so well together but I think there are some similarities.

WHILE WALKING

Lots of walks recently. Different neighborhoods, Bushwick, Lower Eastside, Midtown.
New York is a tough beast... Even more so with signs of the End of the Year extravaganza...
I guess I'm getting hit by the Christmas Blues...

GOWANUS CANAL

Yesterday, reading the LENS section of the New York Times I discovered that José Gaytan passed away this last Wednesday.
I remember Jose from the Ken Hansen time [a well known NY photo store years ago] .
José was living close to my place and I would occasionally "bumped" into him during my Brooklyn photographic expeditions.
If you read the article of the New York Time you'll learn about José's attachment for the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn.

PONTIAC WAGON

I'm not a car fan but I must say that sometimes the view of those old American cars brings a smile of admiration.

BROOKLYN BRIDGE

All right, no Belgian waffles but what a bridge.
The view from and of the Brooklyn bridge was my first New York visual "shock" and still attracts  me many years after.

I guess I'm enjoying series after all...

CONEY ISLAND UNDER THE RAIN

A short trip yesterday to Coney Island.
A world away from the summer extravaganza... So peaceful.
Made me think of the time when my grand parents used to rent a house in St Idesbald, Belgium as a lot of families from northern France would do.
Those long, long stretches of sand, the weather never really warm and the sea always too cold...
Unfortunately for us living in the US, Nathan's hotdogs do not compare to the delicious Belgium waffles that my grandma loved so much…

BROOKLYN BRIDGE

I have always been fascinated by the view if the Brooklyn Bridge at night. Every time I take a taxi to get back home I shoot a few pictures...
